Transported back 80 years - sandbags, spam and survival!

Quick, quick we had an emergency we needed to defend and reinforce our school! The sandbags needed filling so the children in Debating and Gardening club came to the rescue with Mr Teesdale and many hands certainly made light work!

Turning back the clock 80 years and what a fabulous day we all had with 'History off the Page'. The children fully embraced every aspect ranging from having their 'mouths washed out with carbolic soap' and tasting spam sandwiches - we're not sure which left an everlasting taste in the mouth! The day certainly brought 40's to life for the children and we're sure they empathised with their counterparts from 80 years ago!

Keeping the WWII theme alive the children have been outdoors building their own Anderson shelters using clay and whatever the forest can provide.
