Blackberries, bonding and Base 10

What a wonderful start to a new academic year! The weather has been fantastic and we have made the most of our great outdoor spaces. We are all getting to know each other and we can't wait to see what the next year will bring. 
In maths we have been using lots of different manipulatives and many of you may recognise Base 10 equipment from your own childhood! Everyone is enjoying getting to grips with the new apparatus and there is such a variety to suit everyone's needs. 




















As we are entering Autumn at full speed,  the blackberry bushes surrounding us are overflowing and apart from eating them Mrs Bell has found a great way to use the blackberries in Forest School. Linking with our Evacuees topic the children collected blackberries and squashed them to create juice and they wrote their names and addresses on identification labels. I wonder how many stayed in their pots and how many were eaten!
